Our holy founder
St. Benedict
of Nursia
Saint Benedict was born in Nursia in Italy around A.D. 480.
He lived an extraordinary life of holiness amongst the people of his time.
Today, followers of St. Benedict seek God by living a Christian life based on his rule, hence the Order of St Benedict.
WHAT is not possible to us by nature, let us ask the Lord to supply by the help of his grace.

Benedictine Monastic Life
P
refer nothing whatever to Christ.
- St. Benedict
Our community is joined together in stability according to the traditions of our holy founder
St. Benedict. The Rule of
St. Benedict is our guide and our lives are deeply rooted in the Gospel.
We are joined together in consecrated life
as part of the body of Christ and His church. The Benedictine motto of "Ora et Labora" (prayer and work) frames each day in Gospel order, and through prayer, work and
hospitality we strive to live as witnesses of the
love of Jesus Christ.
Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into
God's love and keep you strong. - Eph 3:17
St. Benedict's is best understood as the
spirituality of
ordinary life ... The Benedictine is a spirituality of work: man's by labor, God's by prayer.
- John Senior
Pope John Paul II wrote, “The monastery is the prophetic place where creation becomes praise of God and the precept of concretely lived charity becomes the ideal of human coexistence; it is where the human being seeks God without limitation or impediment, becoming a reference point for all people,
bearing them in his heart and helping them to seek God” (Orientale Lumen 9).
How are the Benedictines of Peace called to live in the heart of the church?
Praying for Peace
We offer ardent prays for peace throughout each and every day. We pray for peace throughout the
world and among all peoples and national groups.
Praying for Unity
We pray for reconciliation, peace and unity among all Christians.
Praying for Priests
We support our spiritual brothers - priests, seminarians and monks - with our prayers, and we offer them
retreat space
at the monastery.
